I Don’t Want to Die in Fruängen
After a long life consisting of work and routines one’s pension provides a chance to begin all over again. For Carmen and Michael Brisfjäll the location plays an important part when they, as newly minted pensioners, have to decide how they want to spend this new chapter in their lives.
When one’s pension suddenly presents one with new opportunities some people choose to emigrate from Sweden and settle in warmer regions. One popular destination is Gran Canaria, a place long characterized by tourism and packaged holidays. But what is it that makes this island so attractive for older Swedes? What is life like for this group of people? And does life really change for the better when one moves to a sunnier place?
I Don’t Want to Die in Fruängen is a documentary about Carmen and Michael Brisfjäll who decide to move to the city of Las Palmas on Gran Canaria. The project is presented by means of an interactive trailer in which one can zap between different videos which, together, give an indication of the storyline.
